There Is Light At The End Of The Tunnel - Your Perimenopause Will End
She felt like perimenopause would never end. Learning that it is temporary gave her hope to keep going.
I was in the depths of perimenopause and it felt like it would never end. The symptoms seemed permanent. The difficulty seemed endless. I was losing hope. Then I remembered something important. This is temporary. This transition will end. I will come out the other side. That knowledge gave me hope to keep going.
How I got here
I had been struggling with perimenopause for years. Some days were better than others but most days were hard. I was tired. I was sick of the symptoms. I was sick of managing symptoms. I was sick of fighting. I was losing hope that this would ever get better.
What I actually did
I reconnected with my hope. I reminded myself that perimenopause is temporary. The average perimenopause lasts about 8-10 years. I was in year five. In a few years, I would reach menopause. The symptoms would stabilize. Life would get easier. That knowledge gave me hope. I also connected with women who had already gone through menopause. They told me their stories. They told me that they had come out the other side. They told me that menopause and life after menopause could be better than they expected. Hearing their stories gave me hope.
What actually changed
My hope returned. I could see a future where I felt better. That hope motivated me to keep taking care of myself. That hope motivated me to keep getting support. That hope got me through the hard days.
What my routine looks like now
I focus on the future. I know this is temporary. I continue to manage my symptoms and take care of myself. I track my progress using PeriPlan so I can see improvement over time. I am hopeful about my future.
If you are in the depths of perimenopause and you feel hopeless, remember this. This is temporary. You will come out the other side. Many women find menopause and life after menopause to be easier and better than perimenopause. There is light at the end of the tunnel. Keep going. You will get through this. This is not medical advice. But hope is real and powerful medicine.
